The Winery:

“Rated Top 10 Syrah in America”

Located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla Washington, K Vintners opened its doors to the public on December 3rd, 2001. The property at 820 Mill Creek Road where the winery sits was homesteaded in 1853 with the adjacent farmhouse built in 1872. The winery grounds with Titus Creek flowing through the lawn and the old pioneer planted trees, is a little slice of heartland Americana.

The Winemaker:

He loves to drink wine! Charles Smith, proprietor and winemaker, comes to Walla Walla after 11 years in Scandanavia. Originally from northern California, he has been involved with wine personally and professionally his whole life. And did we forget to mention… he loves to drink wine!

The Vineyards:

K Vintners is producing wines from 2 distinctive viticultural zones: Wahluke Slope and Walla Walla Valley. Each of these areas are unique and awesome for Syrah and the Field Blends produced. In April ’02 two seperate blocks of vineyards were planted to Syrah adjacent to the winery in the rocky dry creek beds that run through K Vintners property.

From Left to Right…

2009 K Vintners Ovide – “94pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2008 vintage) “Toasty oak, violets, Asian spices, and assorted black and blue fruits lead to a full-flavored, complex, plush wine that will continue to blossom for several more years”

2009 K Vintners Roma – “96pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2008 vintage) “Dense, rich, plush, and well-balanced, this already complex wine will also evolve for another 3-4 years and drink well through 2025.”

2009 K Vintners El Jefe – “95pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2008 vintage) “Earthy minerals, black cherries, tapenade, truffle, violets, and blackberry set the stage for a loaded, complex, powerful offering that offers a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2020+.”

2009 K Vintners Creator – “94pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2008 vintage) “A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in which the latter component dominates the nose. Ripe, spicy, and well balanced, this structured wine will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and drink well through 2023.”

2008 K Vintners Royal City – “99pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – One ton to the acre. Every year this wine seems to get better. With more depth than the ’06 and even more luxurious than the ’07, the ’08 Royal City may be the very best to date. Layer upon layer of earth, cool stone, and tobacco. Faint Asian five spice, harmonic and intensely complex. Hard to determine where this wine ends and begins.”

2009 K Vintners The Deal – “93pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2008 vintage) “The Deal Sundance Vineyard sports a nose of cured meat, wood smoke, exotic spices, lavender, plum, and blueberry. In the glass it is already complex with layered, savory, ripe fruit and a lengthy, pure finish.”

2009 K Vintners Morrison Lane – “93pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2008 vintage) “The 2008 Morrison Lane gives up an enticing bouquet of sandalwood, spice box, garrigue, game, and blueberry. Intense, sweetly-fruited, and impeccably balanced, this lengthy effort will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2020+.”
